IKAI Organic SattuAbout the Product: Sattu is the world's most ancient instant food. It helped armies and travellers survive harsh conditions over long periods. It was also used as a form of payment for in-war battalions. The origin of Sattu can be traced to the Indo-gangetic plain and it is mentioned in the literature of the 16th century of eastern UP & Bihar. Traditionally, Sattu is made from Bengal gram. Bengal gram is first soaked in water overnight. Then it is dried under the sun. Post drying it is roasted over a woodfire using sand. The sand ensures even distribution of heat, while keeping its nutrients intact. The roasted gram is then milled along with the husk. The process imparts an earthy taste and aroma to the final product, and also ensures it lasts longer. Our Organic Sattu or roasted gram powder, is the stuffing for the famous litti, of the Litti Chokha combination. It has recently found fame as a protein drink.  Why eat it?
