IKAI Natural Black Pepper Whole

About the Product:
  • Pepper has been a treasured spice through ages. It is believed to have originated in the Malabar coast. Archaeological evidence shows that it was used in food and as a medicine about 2000 BCE. Our Natural Whole Black Pepper, sourced from Meghalaya is a cousin of the Malabar variety. It has a sharp, pungent, hot and woody taste and smaller kernels. Peppercorns are not seeds or vegetables. They are dried fruits of a flowering vine that usually trails around betel nut trees in tea and coffee plantations.
  • Why eat it?
  • Antioxidant and vitamin rich, these pretty little kernels are bursting with goodness and flavor. Amongst other things, they can help in losing weight, lowering blood pressure, fighting diabetes, and improving fertility. They are known for cancer fighting, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and neuro-protective properties. Need we say more!
  • Cooking tips:
  • These small kernels are much more pungent than the malabar variety. Do adjust the portion accordingly in your cooking, otherwise your dishes will turn out a lot more spicier.
